The Castlemaine Football & Netball Club is based in the rural township of Castlemaine, Vic and joined the Bendigo Football League in 1925. It was in 1859, that the actual Castlemaine Football club was formed, making last year, 2009, the 150th anniversary of the club.
It is argued that the Castlemaine Football Club is the 2nd oldest in Australia, behind only the Melbourne Football Club and additionally, one of the oldest in the world. Castlemaine is a proud club with a proud history of past players and achievements.
Recent years have seem some major upgrades to the Castlemaine Football & Netball Club social side, with a full renovation of the clubrooms. The clubroom facilities have been completely gutted, fully renovated and simply look fantastic. Huge thanks to all of those who have made this possible, and please come and check out our new facilities, which now include a great kitchen area, bar, central heating and big screen TV's.
CFNC have embarked on the 2010 season with a new committee and football netball coaches.
The President is Tony Walsh with Trevor Butcher vice President, Fiona Oliver secretary and Kathie Teasdale treasurer. The committee has been working hard over the summer months setting up sub committees and ensuring the strategic plan is progressing.
Paul Eyles returns to the club as senior football coach and is very optimistic for 2010 with a big emphasis on local talent as well as some new recruits. David Ross and Frank Byrne are assisting Paul with the seniors. Lenny Watson has taken a duel role with Craig Ginnivan as reserves coaches and is excited with the youth that are coming through. Jeff Deppler and Lenny Watson are coaching the under 18's also in a duel coaching role. Shane Green is under 16 1/2's coach for this year. Dale Williams is coaching the super rules team who have great numbers attending training sessions and are proving to be a very handy resource around the club.
Netball this year sees Maree Bagley coaching the A grade side, Chelsea Williams coaching A reserve, Debbie Ginnivan B grade and the under 17's coached by Tayla Williams and Jordan Plant. The netball coaches are working very hard to bring young players through to build strong sides for the future years ensuring Castlemaine netball are competitive.
