CFNC assist in Barfold Clean-Up Efforts 06-03-2010
On Sunday February 28th a large contingent of Castlemaine Football Netball club players and committee travelled to Barfold to volunteer their time and experience in assisting with the ongoing clean-up efforts following the Black Saturday Bushfires.
Twelve months on from the fires the residents are still working to recover from the devastation caused and the volunteers were able to give the recovery process a boost with many hours of painting, mulching and fencing taking place.
Club spokesman Trevor Butcher said “Football clubs rely on community support so it is great to see that support being reciprocated through the efforts of our footballers and netballers today, who have been able to put something back into a community in need”.
Overseeing the efforts of the club was Kirra Litchfield from the Mt Alexander Shire Council who managed the day and co-ordinated food for the volunteers.
Congratulations to all who attended from the U/16.5, U/18, Reserve, Senior and Super rules football sides and the Netball sides on a wonderful day of community spirit and achievement.
