Castlemaine Football Netball Club are coming off a huge 150th celebration year which saw the committee work tirelessly to put together some fantastic functions in 2009 celebrating a huge milestone in the clubs history.

Round 2 Write Up

Football conditions well and truly arrived on Sunday as the Castlemaine Football and Netball Club travelled over to Hedges Oval in Maryborough. In a match rescheduled to Sunday following heavy rain making Princess Park unavailable both sides were confronted with cold, windy conditions.

Round 3 Write up

Castlemaine travelled to Country Vet oval to face BFL premiership favourites Golden Square in what always loomed as a tough day for the Magpies.

CFNC assist in Barfold Clean-Up Efforts

On Sunday February 28th a large contingent of Castlemaine Football Netball club players and committee travelled to Barfold to volunteer their time and experience in assisting with the ongoing clean-up efforts following the Black Saturday Bushfires.

The Magpies were competitive for two quarters against the rampant Hawks but for the remainder of the game we were blown away.

The Gisborne Bulldogs handed out a football lesson last week when they comprehensively beat the Pies by 57 pts.

The Magpies are out of the race to play finals in 09 but this did not inhibit them from playing their best football last Saturday against the Sandhurst Dragons.

The Magpies are out of the race to play finals football in 2009. Last Saturday was our last opportunity to keep our slim finals aspirations alive but unfortunately the boys were unable to get over the top of Kangaroo Flat who were sitting 4th on the ladder.

The Castlemaine Magpies run of victories came to an end last week when they were overrun by a very confident Maryborough outfit.

Last Saturday the Magpies wiped  the 150th celebrations from their memories and produced at times some very exciting football to beat our friendly neighbours.

The event promised to be a memorable one and I think everyone who attended either the Friday, Saturday or Sunday would agree that the promises were delivered. The Club was the winner both on or off the field in a very grand way.

Magpie supporters have at last something to smile about after our bone crunching win  against the Gisborne Bulldogs.  The Dogs had only dropped one game in the first eight rounds and were considered an over the line job however our boys had other ideas.

The Magpies spasmodic form continued last Saturday when they were overwhelmed by a rampant Hawks side by 39 points. The Hawks only scored three goals in the 1st & 4th quarters but they buried the Pies in the other two quarters.
