In 1859 a meeting was held to arrange the first ever game of football in Castlemaine. It is unconceivable these days but the game was delayed a week due to the ball not arriving on time from Melbourne.
Through the following years there were various games introduced: league was played until 1923 and then in 1925 Castlemaine entered a side in the Bendigo Football League. We wore black jumpers with a white 'V' and had our first Premiership success in 1926.
1971 - Saw the club change their football uniforms to the Collingwood style jumper.
1984 - Entered a 16.5 age group side in the Bendigo Junior football league.
1991 - Netball joined the BFL.
1992 - Forty year senior premiership drought broken.
2002 - Masters football league in Castlemaine with help from Seymour/Puckapunyal players.
2007 - Dedicated junior development netball squad playing in local competition.
2009 - The club celebrated their 150 year anniversary.
The Castlemaine Football & Netball Club continues to be a great community club - we are still evolving and developing but we embrace change, tackle challenges, and look forward to continued success as a club.
